SmartBlog on Social Media Poll Blogger Contest: Great Example of Crowdsouring

Finalists I’ve been fortunate to take part in a contest/crowdsourcing event the past couple-o’ weeks put on by Smart Blogs on Social Media.

A month ago, SBoSM put out a call for the community that reads them, follows them, or subscribes to them to take part in finding a “Poll Blogger” for the site and newsletter.

With such an exciting opportunity, I posted about the contest and had hoped several of my “students/cleints/friends” would throw their hat in – and as it turned out…

I was named as one of the finalists, along with Mirna Bard, Erik Deckers, and Jeremy Victor.

We each took turns submitting a poll question (newsletter subscribers participate), receved the results to our poll, and wrote up our analysis which is published on the SBoSM site.

The query/analysis for each:

Here’s the next step in the crowdsourcing: Subscribers to the SmartBlog on Social Media newsletter (see a sample newsletter) will be able to vote from the October 18th newsletter and the winner will be announced on October 20th.

So, subscribe to the SBoSM newlsetter (It’ll make you smarter and is delivers all signal and access to some great white papers and research)

This has been a great example of giving the community a voice and sense of ownership from the very start, and I’ve been honored (and excited, even) to be a part of it.
