Pipping the Ace in Content Marketing

pipping_the_ace Ah, the innocent passion and curiosity of a small business owner embracing social media for the first time:

"How do I get lots of Facebook friends?" or "What's the best way to get lots of Twitter followers?"

Good question. Here's a better one. "Why?"

Conversations like these remind me of the scene in The League of Extraordinary Genleman with Alan Quartermain (Sean Connery) coaching Tom Sawyer (Shane West):

Fire enough bullets and hope you hit the target?

And every business (corporate, small, rural, indivudal) is different. The targets are different (and sometimes moving).  The purpose of the play is tantamount to success of the project.

Too many times, we use tactics and tools like Sawyer used his gun. We just keep shooting, but all we do is waste bullets (and maybe get hurt in the process).

The strategies answer the who and why, the tactics and tools (the what) drive the where, when and how.

Take it easy and don't rush in blindly with the equivalent of a "hear ye, hear ye" and you'll be "pipping the ace" in a matter of a short time.
