A boy walks into the public library for the first time and drops his jaw. Unfortunately, it wasn't from excitement. He was overwhelmed.
"A lot of books, hmm?" the librarian asked.
"Too many!" he said. "Maybe I shouldn't read ANY books."
He quickly turned and headed for the door, never to return.

But they are in the role of the boy, not the librarian.
A key to getting started is to define your purpose or task. What is it you want to read or listen to? Find the voices worth paying attention to and follow their lead.
There is much brilliance in the conversation spaces such as the blogsphere and the twitterverse. Define your purpose. Engage. Get smarter.
