Twitter still has my ceiling at 2,000. They won’t allow me to follow any more than that. I recently wrote about how Twitter Doesn’t Know Community and have begun updating who I have to "unfollow" in order to "follow" others.
My criteria to "unfollow" is simple. They must also have a FriendFeed page. I believe everyone’s voice is important. With FriendFeed, I can still follow their Twitter updates.
My criteria to "follow" is also simple. Give me some idea that you aren’t spamming. I’ll look at a combination of things: ratio of follows/followers; your website; your conversation; who you’re connected with, etc. Then, I make a gut decision.
My duty/job/work? Because of Twitter’s arbitrary limit (and many of you will reach it soon), I must unfollow someone before I follow another. So, here’s an update of who I’m unfollowing to follow another
(Twitter – just lift the roof of this sucker, please).
Robert Scoble (but I’m still following his Tweets via FriendFeed)
Aaron Brazell (but I’m still following his FriendFeed)
Alan Wolk (but I’m still following his FriendFeed)
Andy Brudtkuhl (but I’m still following his Tweets via FriendFeed)
Angela Maiers (but she’s still my partner and I follow her FriendFeed)
Becky McCray (but I’m still following her on FriendFeed)
Ben Yoskovitz (but I’m still following his Tweets via FriendFeed)
Who am I following in their place?
@ToddGilmore
@LindaPTaylor
@KenLauher
@KosKim
@Vanessapeq
@converseon
@autiomaa
These updates will also serve as a record so when the roof comes up, I can re-follow the above intelligensia.

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.
