If, Then for the Teacher in You
Just as I believe we're all contagious (and choose which contagion we spread)...
Just as I believe we're all salespeople (even if it's ourselves or our ideas)...
I also believe we are all teachers (whether as a marketer or parent, writer or educator).
Today, Angela Maiers offers up a voluntary meme for teachers inspired by Carl Glickman's Leadership for Learning (via Darren Draper):
Here's my input on this meme:
IF, as a teacher/coach:
- I don't simplify the complex (Simplexify?);
- I blame my students for being closed-minded;
- I don't ask "What if..." more than "Who else...";
- I'm not willing to model best practices up front and out loud;
- I practice reactive coaching more than preparatory training
- I treat unequal circumstances equally;
- I ever "master" and become all-knowing about everything;
THEN I've already reached my ceiling as a teacher and hope my students find a teacher still (and always) growing.
