Does Business Blogging Increase Iowa Economic Development?

It has in Iowa. A sampling:

  • Tim Johnson has books published in multiple languages. He’s been reviewed in The Times…the UK version and is also writing for an international site on Office Politics.
  • Claire Celsi is now part of a Global Media Network doing what she loves – analyzing the Democratic political scene.
  • Drew McLellan has collaborated on several national and international projects and is a contributing author on MarketingProfs:DailyFix and Small Business Branding
  • US Rodeo Supply has seen traffic and sales increase and built a community of loyal customers with SpurNConversations
  • Tom Vander Well has found his blogging efforts at QAQnA to be a deal maker with new customers outside of Iowa.
  • Art Dinkin was recently interviewed for a major publication in New York. They found him because of his blog. His blog is three weeks young.
  • DWebware has been able to show off their knowledge of social media by blogging, in turn helping national organizations to do likewise.
  • Adam Steen has had business leaders from coast-to-coast call to pick his brain on networking.
  • Sandy Renshaw has worked on projects with clients in several states. Yep – they found her because of her blog.
  • Doug Mitchell travels so much, we rarely get to see him anymore.
  • Rush Nigut continues to receive calls from clients outside the state for his practice. Ditto for Brett Trout.
  • Zane Safrit stopped mainstream advertising (he no longer needs to) and was building a global clientele before I knew how to spell "blog"

That’s just to name a few (okay, several). The list is much longer. Reaching beyond the state boundaries. Generating income in Iowa.

Me? Customers in 14 states and 5 countries, plus speaking engagements. Of course, I can only drive as far as my headlights shine.

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

An interesting trend among those business leaders and successes that you list.
They were smart enough to engage Mike Sansone as their blog coach.
Our successes are yours as well.
Speaking for myself — I know for a fact that I would not be where I’m at without your continued guidance.
    Thanks for everything,
    Drew

    Amen.
Doug and I were just discussing this over at the track in Newton.
    Thanks for all your help!

  • http://www.purplewren.com Sandy Renshaw

    Mike,
I’ll echo that sentiment! An excellent blog coach makes a huge difference.
Together, these business bloggers are helping put Iowa on the blogosphere’s map in a big way.
And I’m happy to report that my reach and client base is now international. A comment box isn’t sufficient to list all the benefits I’ve received from blogging. I’ll have to write a post. . .
    Thanks!
    Sandy

Hit the “playback button” on the previous for me, too, Mike.
I’ve had my books read and/or reviewed from India to Israel, from South Korea to “South of Grand,” and from Canada to California.
This traffic and attention wouldn’t have been possible without your awesome blog coaching, Sandy’s awesome design work, and a nod to Derrick Sorles for his great coaching on LinkedIn.
A big ol’ WOOO-HOOO for social media.

You guys are fantastic! And while I’ll accept and embrace any credit, I simply hand over the playbook – your talents and voices carry things to your goal. (And I’m running along the sidelines celebrating:-))

  • http://www.qaqna.com/ Tom Vander Well

Thanks for the mention, Mike. What an incredible list, and judging on the number of “bloglings” attending the Central Iowa Bloggers get-together last Friday – the number is growing!

  • http://www.rushonbusiness.com Rush Nigut

    Mike:
I just wrote about business coaching for lawyers at http://www.lawpportunities.com. The ABA Journal featured three lawyers that had business coaches. And while those coaches may be tremendous there was no mention of a blog. If you want to drive business to a law practice or any other business for that matter I just don’t see how anyone could ignore blogs. Thanks for all your help!
    Rush

  • Adam Steen

    Mike,
Thanks for the shout out! Look at the team you’ve created! Unbelievable group of people. I’m proud to call you my coach.

  • http://www.publicrelationsprincess.com Claire Celsi

Mike, thanks for the shout out. You’ve helped me focus my “voice” in the blogosphere and make it count. You’ve done that for countless others, and for one am grateful.

  • http://zane.typepad.com Zane Safrit

    Thanks for the shout!
Clicking on technorati today I found this post and your ranking from it as a Technorati Expert. It was 888. More recognition for you, justly deserved too.
    Later. Stay cool.
