Chicken in Spaghetti Sauce? Why Would Anyone?

The first meal I cooked for my wife was spaghetti sauce. No meatballs. Chicken. Cooked in the sauce.

She was almost appalled at the thought. "Why would anyone do that?"

What? The only way to eat sauce is with meatballs? That’s what she thought.

TwitterThis morning, this Des Moines Register article on Twitter had Panera all…well…atwitter. Business people were almost appalled. "Why would anyone do that?"

For the love of perspective, think a little bit. I’ve written previously about Twitter as a business application. The article says nothing about limitations on how to use the tool, just a few examples of how it is being used.

I’m not saying Twitter is a killer app. Frankly, I’m more listener than talker (and end up turning it off more often than on). But with any of these tools…Blogs, Wikis, WD-40, Telephones…see if the tool can be used for business before dismissal.

I wonder what happened the first time someone mashed a potato. Egad!

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

Well, I’m pretty sure that most of DSM must think I never work, based on that article!
I don’t care what anyone says — Twitter is fun. And there’s nothing wrong with a little fun!

I totally love the food metaphor! Got me smiling over my breakfast.
You seem to be in an amazing blogging stride just now Mike – want to share the secret?

“I wonder what happened the first time someone mashed a potato.”
Egad is right! They were probably brought before the town council and cited for food abuse!
Hey, I’m not a Twitter user, and probably won’t be. But so what? It doesn’t bother me that such a thing exists. Besides, someone might come up with a reason for me to use it after all; who knows?
The point is that everything leads to another thing, sooner or later. Innovation begets innovation.

Great Post! However, instead of using Twitter, we are stirring in LoopNote.com to our marketing mix. It has a great flavor for sending one-to-many messages.
