What Happened to my Technorati ‘Baseball Card’?

I’m a big fan of Technorati. It’s become part of a tool set I use multiple times each day (along with TypePad, Feeburner, GreatNews, MyBlogLog, TheGoodBlogs and Panera)

David Sifry posted about their redesign and I quickly received two emails from folks looking for their baseball card.

It’s important to be aware of this kind of thing (newspapers, radio and television do it, professional sports does it, you do it in business).  Here’s how to find your (or any) Technorati baseball card quickly:

In the search box (top right), simply type in the URL of the site (including http://):

Techrank

You can also employ the Technorati This button I posted about in Surf Smarter with These Buttons

One of the great things about this redesign is that Technorati has made it easier to search. Prior to this, you had to specify whether you wanted to search blog posts, tags or the blog directory (and you can still specify from the Advanced Search area).

For months I’ve described Technorati as a "social media search engine" that includes audio, video, images…more than simply blogs. The Greater Des Moines Partnership is in there and they don’t blog (yet!), but they do social media (and are about to Do More).

I use Technorati more for research than ranking (I still think Authority should be renamed Popularity), searching for like-minded blogs and how popular or influential a certain blog voice brings to the table.

On the redesign: It’s a change I embrace and applaud. Great work Team Technorati!

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

That’s how you find it! Thanks. I clicked on about 6 links (before my coffee) and then gave up, switching to GoogleBlogSearch thinking, “doesn’t matter”.
I like the graphic look of it, but not the functionality/navigation.

In addition to the “baseball card”, I’d like to point out the new-and-improved blog page. Your blog page shows the relevant information for your blog (who’s claimed it, who lists it as a favorite, the top tags used, reactions from around the web, etc.) in one unified view.
It also links to your personal page, which shows the blogs you’ve claimed, your favorites, and other activity on Technorati.
    Thanks for the feedback!

Mike, when I looked at Technorati today, my scorecard was missing so thanks for keeping us informed about the change. I like having a favorites tool – I confess I’ve never used that one because there are only so many hours in a day. As far as all the tools, I’m eclectic since I use a little of this and a little of that.
What do you do to expand and yet keep everything organized well for yourself?

Thanks Mr. Wizard – Technorati is just so huge and you’re able to simplify it for us. Thanks for building signposts along the path.

    Mike,
Thanks for your kind words! We are working hard to learn more and become more engaged in social media. We appreciate all you’re doing to help us!

    >Chris, just like our blogs – I guess even T’rati is always in beta, hmm?:-)
    > Thanks Matthew – keep up that great and growing work!
    > Robyn:-) Well-organized? My RSS feed-reader alerts me to new stuff and I use a gut instinct to play it or wait. Sometimes I wait so long I’ve forgotten all about it. My gut is a great organizer:-)
    >You bet, Bob:-) Des Moines is this-a way!
    >Hi Amanda:-) Pardon the pun, but you’re DOing MORE than I. Keep it up.
