Quick Thoughts from a Hectic Head

It’s ironic that as soon as I post about an editorial calendar, I enter the busiest time I’ve had in months…

Pick up a copy of Ballsy or Gut by Karen Salmansohn and keep it by your side. Like fuel for your creativity tank … The more I see business folks lead their conversation with a "me first" attitude, the more I’m convinced that WII-FM is losing its signal.

One definition of rich: "Want everything you have, rather than have anything you want." The latter will always be added upon, and we can never have it all … Isn’t it supposed to snow in the winter?

I am often in awe of a colored-sky, deer running across the field and if I remember right…the beauty of a thick snowflake. All God’s creation. Shouldn’t that be how we look at people (whether offline or on)…in awe?

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

    Great reminders, Mike!
Here’s my take on random thoughts: Just being awake to the ideas you post about really helps me see the world differently – and more gratefully. The weather has turned seasonable here in North Dakota – and I’m hearing people complain about the cold. Hello! It’s North Dakota – in January! It’s SUPPOSED to be cold! When our rich dialogue falls back to the topic of the weather, we can be sure we’re falling asleep in our everyday lives. When we remember the colored-sky, the deer, and yes, even the snowflake, we can also remember that everything is exactly as it should be and we can get rid of our judgment about it. After all – when does judgment ever change the reality of the situation? WII-FM may be losing its signal – but the really cool thing is that when we start noticing the beauty, grandeur and perfection of the world the way it is, we get so much more than if we intended to get something for ourselves. Giving up what we want to get allows us to receive lots more.

Hi Jodee:-) ‘…when does judgment ever change the reality of the situation’ That’s a headful of thoughts I could chew on for hours (and might). your last sentence is a heartful that we could all benefit from embracing. Thank you!

    Hi Mike,
I’m so rich in incredibly, intelligent, open-hearted, generous, colorful, deep-thinking friends who challenge me to be better, to do what I might otherwise only dream of, to really explore the power of “we.”
I know this guy. . . . He’s one in a million. He hangs out at Panera. He says it’s because his cell phone works better there. I’m grateful for him and everyone even a little like him that is part of my life. The sun rises and sets on their heads.
