The Milk of The Matter

Recently, I created a new page I call Itinerary – a collection of cornerstone posts or "the meat of the matter" on business blogging.

I’ve come to realize that this may be too much to digest for prospective business bloggers. Where would they begin? Is it too much info too soon?

I’ve created an additional page, A Newcomer’s Guide – a smaller collection of posts or "the milk of the matter" on business blogging.

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

    Mike:
You are a fountain of information, but the fountain runneth over! I like the pared down version in your newcomer’s guide, but I’d suggest you take it one step further…actually four or five steps…and outline the steps a prospective business blogger might take. Under each step, you could include the appropriate posts.
For example a sectino “RSS Feeds” means nothing to someone who hasn’t even read a blog, and it means something else to someone who is creating a blog. One type of RSS information would go under a section on learning about blogs by reading blogs and a different type of RSS information would go under a section on building RSS feeds into your own blog.
Such a chroniclogical order would allow the reader to build on their knowledge in small, bite-size pieces.
Sounds to me like you’ve written a book…now you just need to publish it. :)

I agree with Mike. I am very new to blogs and for me it is important that I understand tab A goes into Tab B and so on. More importantly each step needs to yield some sort of tangible result otherwise I get discouraged. But definitely your sensing the need to consolidate the information and that is great.

    >Mark – Great feedback. Maybe a booklet? Know anyone that can help me tell the story?
    >Sherry, The tangible results will come in time, but you’re right – there needs to be a way to see and measure forward movement – and not just by your coach saying “good job!”
We’ll continue to improve together, yes?

Some Travel Reading Just For You

This morning I am hopping a flight up to Chicago for a week. It was so nice of them to have a snow storm yesterday and drop the temperatures to below freezing for me so I can really be reminded of what winter is really like as I work up there this week…

Hey, Mike, I’d be willing to work on a project along those lines with you if you are looking for some assistance.
