Tag: What’s in a Nickname?

A few days ago, I responded to the Five Things meme. Today, I got tagged again – twice.

Borrowing a page from my friend Sandy and her wonderful community building series, Blogs of a Feather: What do these folks have in common?

Before you call me a sap for a meme, let me share five nicknames I’ve had in the past:

  1. Truck: I had a third base coach tear a rotator cuff waving me around third. The guy behind me hit a triple.
  2. Swann: I got faster and had great hands, but I prefer to think this was because of my dancing.
  3. Carrot Bottom: Because I told someone they were dumb for calling me Carrot Top – didn’t they know carrot tops were green. This was their response
  4. PK: I wasn’t a preacher’s kid (though I later became a preacher). It was short for a screen name I had (PKMgr) which stood for Park Manager. Too many Mikes in the office led to this nickname.
  5. Heap o’ Coke: Yep, Cindy’s my Briney Marlin – and I’m Mr. Lucky. Put that in your tit for tat.

I see the error of my ways, as I didn’t tag others at the end of my last attempt. So here goes: Doug Mitchell; Preston Koerner; Mark Woodman – you’re it:-)

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

I give up, what do they have in common? And, um, did I tag too many people? Thought it was five.
    Heap ‘o Coke?????????
    Carolyn

Hi Carolyn:-) I think you did super. Appreciate the tag love – and I don’t think either of us did anything in error (there really are no “rules” in business blogging, right?)
In Mr. Lucky, Cary Grant spoke a bit of Cockney rhyming slang. Heap c’ Coke = bloke. Briney Marlin = My darlin’. Tit for tat = Hat. Doesn’t that put a smile on your “North and South”? (mouth)

Yes, it does put a smile on my north and south.

    Five Things from the Blotter

Breaking a long-standing rule of meme boycotts (and delving into the personal) here are Five Things the readers of inkBlots probably dont know about me. Blame Mike Sansone for tagging me on this one.

What, so you weren’t a junior Scarface in your college days?
    Bah. ;)

Ian:-) I ran with a crowd of young paisans (that’s where the Carrot Bottom nickname came from) but came away scarfree.

    Mike,
Here I am, getting back on the internet for the first time in a week, and I’m reading your blog for ideas on how to be better. I’m digging into your archives and I find this post. Hey, that’s my name?! Somehow, I must have missed this tag, so I’ll get on it over next weekend.
    Here’s to another great year!
