Mack Collier Creates A Zing-List

Mack Collier is a community-building superhero in my book.

In Revenge of the Z-Lister, Mack throws one high and tight at Technorati’s ‘authority’ ranking system. I agree that authority isn’t the right word for T’rati’s ranking, though it can serve as a barometer for popularity.

So what does Mack do? Introduce others and asks us to do the same. Some you may not have seen yet – but would benefit from reading their work.

One of the great benefits of blogging is networking, connectivity, collaboration — community.

Mack starts out with the first five, Chris Brown added two more, then I follow. If you want to take part in this community building exercise, Copy and Paste the links below into a post and then add your unsung bloggers:

Shotgun Marketing Blog (via Mack)
BrandSizzle
bizsolutionsplus
Customers Rock!
Being Peter Kim

Two Hat Marketing (via Chris)
The Branding Blog

The Emerging Brand (via Mike)
CrapHammer
Drew’s Marketing Minute
Golden Practices
Viaspire
Tell Ten Friends
Flooring the Consumer
On Influence and Automation
Kinetic Ideas
MSCO
Buzzoodle
NewsPaperGrl

As Mack says, this isn’t calling these folks the bottom of the alphabet-list barrel – but if you read their work, you’ll agree they have authority in their field. They make me smarter.

I could go on in many categories, but I focused on Branding and Marketing here. Add as many to the list as you like.

PS to Mack. Thanks for spreading your cape wide and far.

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

Love the awards and recognition pieces on your blog! I’m going to host mine so I can do more of that.
Thanks so much for your words about the newspapergrl blog. I had to have an outlet for my ideas and to keep track of everything I learn. Now my brain is searchable!
Newspapergrl has really helped my life. A few years ago I took time off as a web developer to be a mom and not long after unexpectedly became a single mom. I went back to work and traded pay for flexiblity (I made $12 an hour). At one point I hired and internet marketer and found that is what I really love. It’s been quite an adventure since with great results. Thanks for joining in!
    Best-
    Janet

Mike — Once again, thank you so much for being a “connector” of great resources. We really appreciate (from Day 1 when we launched our blog this year) your connection and outreach. Rankings, lists, blogrolls, they are all helpful in gaining exposure and Technorati “status”, but real connections where conversations happen (online and off) are truly more meaningful to us. We blog because we have a personal connection with our readers. It may not be for the masses like the A-Listers, but the time we get to blog is out of pure passion and exploration to share, interact, and offer new and exciting concepts that hopefully seed and nurture new ideas.
Thanks again, Mike! Keep up the great work!!! We love your blog!

As a regular reader I want to thank you for the kind addition of our blog to the list. You are an insightful and erudite observer of the blogosphere and choosing Unconventional Thinking (MSCO) for inclusion was a sterling example of your brilliance.
(now some may call this a left-handed compliment, but being a lefty I think it’s the perfect way to say thank you…)
    Thank you,

    Wow. Thanks Mike.
Kate showed me how to create an “ego roll” in bloglines. A listing of how many links there are back to ones blog.
This morning I was like. What the? I thought I had been ego roll spammed. ;)
This is an awesome idea and what a neat thing to receive.

    >Heather – The feeling is mutual! You share some great insight, strategies and an abundance of what you find. A fantastic resource for any reader.
    >Chris – Thanks for the kind words. Though I fear I started an avalanche of links entitled MSCO, it’s an unconventional way to get folks reading I hope. Keep up the great work.
    >Sean – It’s good to get your ego spammed once in awhile:-)

  • Wendy Maynard

Mike, I really, really appreciate your addition of my blog, Golden Practices to your Z list. Being in the list so early in the game has brought some interesting people to my blog. I look forward to reciprocating!
    Michelle

  • http://www.converstations.com Mike Sansone

With pleasure, Michelle. I think your Golden Practices is reciprocity enough, but I’m glad you’ve connected with so many new folks. Stay contagious.
