Congratulations, It’s a Blog

Babymess So you have a new blog (or other social media play) for your company. Congratulations. Treat it with care and love – because it might make a mess before it gets its legs. Be patient.

When a baby drools, burps, potties or makes other messes, we don’t throw them in a corner and forget about it. They can keep  us awake at night, altering our daily schedule just a bit :-)   Do we throw the baby in a closet and ignore it?

The young child will probably cry, moan, learn to lie, go off to school and lose their new jacket – do we trade it in for a new model?

Be Patient. Be passionate in your work, be inviting to your audience, be patient with your efforts. Watch it grow. You’ll be proud of the results if you endure.

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

Hi there Mike! Patience is all I need these days. :-D I’ve been blogging for CustServ for 8 months now, and the past month or so, I’ve been thinking of what more can I do to improve it. What valuable service can I give to my readers? What is it about customer service that I want to learn, to share, to imbibe to everyone? :) I hope to find the answers soon. Thanks for inspiring me through this post.

Great thought – patience is one of the things many people need. There has been too much hype about get rick quick schemes and people expect the Internet to turn a regular laptop to an ATM machine overnight.
    Thanks for the reminder Mike.

Quote from ‘Naked Conversations’ (from memory): “It’s inevitable that you’re going to put your foot in a bucket sometimes.” Doing the wrong thing, saying something rash, making a mistake. All of those things can be strengthening in the long term because it shows you’re human. And ultimately, as you know, the secret in blogging and the reason people read blogs, is that humans want to talk to humans.

If you post a blog in the internet sphere and nobody comments….did you really blog? Do you just keep feeding the meter and have faith? But of course I get your point, why would anyone toss the baby out with the bathwater. What one puts in is what one gets out. Thanks for the good point Mike.

Great motivation to hold on, hang in and hope for a win, Mike! thanks — You are really describing the movie I saw say –PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS – based on a true story of all you speak of so well.

    >Meikah – Hi. I think you’re doing super. Great thing about customers and customer service, is there’s always something to learn from stories, metaphors and examples. You provide great service to your customers (readers).
    >Kian:-) – Speaking of great metaphors:”…people expect the Internet to turn a regular laptop to an ATM machine overnight.” Great line! Thanks for adding that.
    >Ian, great points. Every once in a while we chew on our shoe or say a few umhs and ughs. If mistakes are tuition, then we shouldn’t fear them in our blogging because we’ll become better, yes?
    >Sherry, I once lost a blogger because they wanted to wait for someone to comment on that first post before posting another. Beauty of blogging is, what you post today will become more findable tomorrow (in searches and your backlinking to it for context). Another great word picture with the baby and water.
    >Hi Ellen:-) I’ve heard great things about the movie. I gotta go see it now. Thanks.
