What’s Your Blog Intinerary?

An itinerary is provided as a guide in travel. How could I continue to run this station without one? No longer a question – The ConverStations Itinerary is now available.

In starting the Dialing 8 series, an idea which spawned from a David Armano post, a Paul Williams practice, and a Liz Strauss page, I wondered if having a search on this site was enough?

  • How would new visitors find the cornerstone posts.
  • Would they be able to find the ‘religion’ of ConverStations?
  • And what of those looking for a reference point?
  • Would they find that old post quickly?
  • Am I following my own Purpose Driven Blogging plan?

And so the ConverStations Itinerary gets a seat on the navigation (we’re gonna need more buttons).

They are the stops along this Conversation Station that are foundational to the beliefs and practices of its conductor. They serve my passengers well. Welcome aboard.

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

Mike, First a Blogroll that is organized, informative and useful to your readers and now a selected archives page highlights particular posts of interest for your readers. Man, you are raising the bar for all of us! Well done!

    Mike,
You do a wonderful job of a mash up — paying attention to the fodder, thinking through and making it your own, turning into a wonderful service for yuor readers. Excellent idea all around and so perfectly Converstations.

Mike, your itinerary is a really, really good idea and so well executed. You are good!

    Good idea.
We’ve just started to experiment with a customised Google based search engine.

Early days I’ve only spent 10 minutes setting it up, could be an answer to monetized search on any blog?!? No real thoughts yet. I’m not sure how G provides the results presumably via adwords…

Have you read “Revenge of the Mininets”?
One of the best ways to distribute pagerank around a site is using a comprehensive sitemap, that is the only search engine followable link (as opposed to navigation link) on your front page. Then from your single pages you channel pagerank back towards your front page, maybe via your categories.
I am not sure how to do this effectively on Typepad, and on WordPress achieving it can be quite complicated, even just a partial solution.
Well worth thinking about though especially for those old gems that don’t get as much loving.
Using internal tagging rather than specific links to Technorati helps a lot as well.

Chris, Liz and Tammy – Thanks for you pats on the back. And though there are benefits for myself, the key for me was that some articles seemed to be lost in a pile.

    >Richard, great idea. Keep us updated to how that’s going?
    >Andy, I have not yet read ‘Minnets’ but I will check on that later today. You thought about the “old gems that don’t get much loving.” is much of the motivation — of course keep in mind that this man’s treasure …
