On the hunt for a Purple Cow in your business? What if it’s not a cow? And what if it’s not purple? Will you recognize it when you see it? Do we see what our customers see?
I’m glad the Topps company (history), whose core product was bubble gum before the ’50s, recognized it had something remarkable with baseball cards. I must have had a Ron Herbel in every pack.
Some companies may not have a Purple Cow. Instead, they have a Pink Horse – but they are blind to it because their desire for the cow has blinded them to the horse.
One company I’ve worked with has a Pink Horse stuck in the stable because they want to be known for other things. End result? Their prospects are confused as to what it is they really do — and end up not talking about them at all.
If your customers can’t make remarks about your offering – it’s NOT remark-able.
Maybe in your search for a Purple Cow, you haven’t seen the value of your Pink Horse. Instead of looking for the Purple Cow, put the Pink Horse on parade.
