Yep. In the blogoshpere, an active community is gold – but silence is golden, too.
Though it’s especially important for new business bloggers to keep in mind, it’s also important for experienced bloggers to consider.
When we first begin blogging, most of us scurry looking for blogs to comment on or link out to so that we get a solid foundation of readers. Even then, the readers don’t always comment or link back – but they are there. And they are valuable.
Exhibit A: Last week, Gavin Heaton shared a fantastic video on his Copywriting Migraines post. I must’ve told everyone I knew to watch the video. I told them via email, phone, or in person. Two I know posted the video on their site. Another told a colleague of his – and that colleague posted it. I didn’t comment on Gavin’s site or post about it myself. As far as Gavin knows – I remained silent.
UPDATE: Have you ever meant to hit "Save as Draft" but went "live" instead? Only to get a comment before finishing the post?
So…what ‘silence is golden stories’ do you have? Maybe you were the silent party, delivering offline even though you didn’t comment online…
