TheGoodBlogs: Full of Pith and Vinegar

I don’t know about you, but I’m really digging TheGoodBlogs widget.

This morning, a headline caught my eye, "Care about people, listen actively and name-drop shrimp" Post after post on the Pith and Vinegar site got my brain and heart pumping. Good stuff – immediately on the blogroll.

Thank you to TheGoodBlogs concept and The Idea Dude. Because of your work, I’m constantly introduced to new sites, new ideas, and new readers.

It’s more than a directory or network, it’s a connectivity tool. Highly recommended. If I could just figure out how to get into the Marketing category…

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

Hey Mike, I always thought you were in the Marketing category because that’s such a natural fit. Glad you pointed that omission out. You are now in marketing too!

Thanks for the tip (and for joining my community at MyBlogLog)
I am exploring the advantages of building a community on a blog rather than retaining traffic internally.
Traditional marketing concepts are to try to retain a visitor once you have them.
The first stage was to encourage people to leave lots of comments and to use trackback more by getting rid of “nofollow”.
Then I started offering reciprocal Technorati favoriting. I do actually try to read the blogs my readers write.
I want to do more of that, but some write on completely unrelated topics, or tend to post lots of duplicate content.
On the 3rd phase I am adding community widgets, and again visiting the blogs of people who visit me.
    Results so far?
More targetted traffic from casual community related activity than from search traffic. It is interesting monitoring the long-term effect of this.
