Quotes n Notes: Exit Strategy

Qoutenote_3_2_2 "I never walk into a place I don’t know how to walk out of." Robert DeNiro in Ronin

This is great business advice across-the-board. Whether entering a startup business or a strategic business collaboration, a relationship with a client – or a relationship with a vendor.

But what of a blog?  There have been a few items written about "exit strategy" for blogs that are businesses, but what of a company blog?

You change the URL. In those situations, an RSS-HTML solution like we used for for Iowa Corporate Attorney Rush Nigut works well.  On Rush’s old blog, we used FeedBurner’s RSS to HTML to point to his new site.

You stop blogging. Stay transparent and bid adieu. It may be permanent, but it may be temporary. We did this with BenRa’s ZoomAlbum blog.

Always knowing how you’ll exit, doesn’t mean you must exit – but have a plan.

Again, aside from blogging, the quote works across-the-board in business situations. Especially in the new WEB-XM.

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

One of my big worries when changing my URL was that I would lose the findability of my blog. Thanks Mike for your help in making the transition so smooth. My findability did not drop off at all and I have more people reading my blog than ever in record time. Great work!
