Is Flickr a Marketing Tool?

Here are two companies in the business of patio covers are using Flickr as an extension of their marketing package.

Home improvement contractors, HomeLivingSpaces and Envirowood Patio Covers, both appear in a Flickr search for their product. I’ve been working with Doug Mitchell on the Envirowood Patio Covers blog.

I like the way Doug mashed up PowerPoint, Flickr and SlideShare to produce this piece:

The use of tags in both Flickr and SlideShare make Envirowood findable in more ways than one.
Their previous site included a large series of photos that was hosted from the same server as their site. High-resolution images increased bandwidth which increased costs.
These are just two reasons to use Flickr as part of your company’s marketing toolkit. What ways are you using Flickr to promote your business?

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

These days if you’re not marketed properly, it’s not for lack of marketing venues. Flickr, YouTube, Myspace…you name it, it’s there for you. As the population becomes more internet-intensive, online visibility is becoming the marketing boom of the present.
Not like the old days when only us nerds used computers :)

I agree, Mike…great examples. I especially love it when decidedly OFFLINE companies use online tools in such innovative ways. Excellent!

Right, JD – and so many cool tools are being added to the toolbox. Now if a business isn’t findable – does it exist in the minds of the nerds (which we all are in some capacity, right?:-)
We share the love, Ann. My passion is to see the predominantly offline companies get excited in using these online tools. Its becoming easier and easier each day. So why not?

I am in the business of making tv commercials, 3d graphics and animation. So I add some of my latest work or behind the scenes photos of the process. I dont think in a business like mine I get new jobs or clients just like that but perhaps existing clients might be introduced to other services that are available that they dont know me for.
