The Wisdom of the Flying Pig

Pigwisdom_1 Earlier this month, I wrote about the pig in my mail. This weekend, I feasted on a great read, The Wisdom of the Flying Pig by Jack Hayhow.

The inspirational quotes accentuate the stories. The glossy pages and abundance of white space make it a quick read with ample space for notes. However, what struck me was how the instructions can be translated to blogging.

The book is written for Managers and Leaders, but much of the inspiration can also be beneficial for bloggers.

  • Jack writes: "Great managers don’t see departments, they see individuals."
  • For BizBloggers: Great business bloggers don’t see bank deposits, they see relationships.
  • Jack writes: "Make sparing use of your red pencil (look for the good).
  • For BizBloggers: Make sparing use of snarky remarks (look for the good).
  • Jack writes: "Don’t try to teach a Pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig."
  • For BizBloggers: Okay, maybe this doesn’t equate to bloggers – but that’s a great line!

Buy it? Borrow it? Bunt it? Manager, Leader, Teacher, Consultant or Blogger…Buy It.
