Quotes n Notes: Enthusiasm

Qoutenote_2 "It is enthusiasm that flings the minds of men out of the beaten track and affects the great revolutions of the intellect as well as the great revolutions of the political world." – Alexis de Tocqueville

Enthusiasm is essential in transferring belief in your product/service and in getting things done. No matter whether it’s in sales or project management, waiting tables or delivering your elevator pitch, enthusiasm will carry you farther than corporate apathy.

Quick Quiz: Is your enthusiasm present in each aspect of your business message?

Greg Magnus at eoecho asks if passion and enthusiasm is the single most important component in marketing – and then delivers the answer.

This week, listen to how you talk with customers and colleagues. Can you detect the enthusiasm? Now look at your brochures and web site(s) – is the passion present?

If you’re looking for business, attract customers with some lots of enthusiasm – and start a revolution of your own.

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

    Mike,
I really like your advice here,
“This week, listen to how you talk with customers and colleagues. Can you detect the enthusiasm? Now look at your brochures and web site(s) – is the passion present?”
So many people have the enthusiam, but fail to capture it in their marketing materials and websites. It doesn’t take long to recognize enthusiasm in a crowded room or in the written word.
I was at a fitness expo in Philly last week. After spending a few hours at the show, I noticed the only business cards I kept where those from people with “real enthusiasm.” It’s a talent.
    Thanks for the post.

Good point, Greg. Enthusiasm is not only contagious – but memorable. Thanks for motivating the post in the first place:-)

Mike, you hit the nail squarely on the head. It seems as I get older (and presumably wiser!) I get more tuned in to the overall positive “vibe” of a person or a concept like an advertisement. If the vibe isn’t there, I tend to drift away very quickly. If it is, I immediately pick up an additional boost myself (not that I need it most of the time, but every little bit helps). I notice this too when I’m going into a room full of people – ever just walk in and pick up an incredible buzz that perks you right up, without even talking to anyone? I love that. Conversely, I don’t love it when I feel like I hit a brick wall when I walk in. In my business, my goal is to get that “buzz” in every room with employees in it – it’s not easy, but boy is it worth it. Thanks Mike.
