What’s on Your “To Cause” list?

Last fall, I created a "To Cause" list. Mine is a short list of three items that act as a compass in my daily doings:

  1. Turn each frown upside down.
  2. Introduce one stranger to another.
  3. Help someone accelerate their success.

When I do this – especially #2 – people think I’m Weird, and they’re right. It’s a great thing when someone’s weird is sustainable, yes?

Based on feedback I get from those I meet daily, I’m confident my "To Cause" list has a positive effect offline. Does it happen online as well?  I hope so – especially # 2 (again) – as I introduce bloggers to each other.

Phil Gerbyshak, meet Tom Vander Well. Tom, Phil. I value both of your opinions and thought you should meet.

Maybe it’s not always so straightforward of an introduction on blogs, but as Kami Huyse talks about in The Culture of Generosity in Social Media, "…the posture of generosity is essential to the Social Media culture." Offline too.

I don’t know about you, but I’m drawn to folks that consistently put others first. At work, in the coffee line, or on their blog. Mālama, everyone.

So, what’s on your "To Cause" list?

Find Your Social Media ROI

I hear it from a lot of business owners: “Where is the ROI with all this Social Media?“ If this is a question you ask yourself, maybe we should work together a bit more. We can work together solo, or via a professional learning community. Find and increase your ROI. There is a “there” there.

You bet, Phil. Keep Making it Great!

You’re not weird Mike, this is wonderful! The world would be a much better place if everyone had even a fraction of your “others first” generosity. This is aloha through and through; the unconditional love and acceptance of humanity.

Hey, great concept, Mike. I’m going to make my list simple:
    1. To cause everyone I bump into to feel valued
    2. To ask fathers to take the power of their role seriously
    3. To keep my house and wrokspace cleaner

    >Rosa, Thanks for recognizing what I hold dear. It’s gotta be a reflection for you to recognize it.
    >Pete – Love your To Cause List. I’d love to follow you around one day and watch you bump into folks. Stay contagious.
